Pause for Prayer

By Karen Schoeppach

“Give me a call.” “We must get together.” “I can’t believe it’s been that long!” These and other phrases express our feelings when we are out and about and meet a friend or close acquaintance we haven’t seen for a while. At that moment, we regret that it’s been so long since we spent time with them. Often, they are saying similar things to us. When they are said, we always mean them. Sometimes there is follow through. Most of the time, unfortunately, we go on as before and don’t connect. Which only leads to more regret. Is there someone you should call? Do you want to avoid regret? Pick up the phone. Set a date.

Lord, it is so easy to feel sorry for neglecting people in our lives. What we need to do is make the call, send a note, or schedule a lunch date. Give us the courage and the strength to move forward while maintaining connections. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
